About

British Marine is the trade association for the leisure, superyacht and small commercial marine industry. We represent businesses involved in:

• Leisure boats – seagoing and inland

• Small commercial workboats up to 24m

• Superyachts

• Hire fleets

And all the equipment and services needed for those craft. Nationally our members come from around 4,200 businesses in today’s UK leisure, superyacht and small commercial marine markets. The turnover of those markets is worth almost £3 billion. The BM mission statement is:

• We will lead and promote our industry and work with our members to achieve sustainable growth in a competitive global environment, through the provision of world-class goods and services. In the South West, an elected Board made up from members across the region represents member’s interests.

The British Marine South West’s mission statement is:

• To be the ‘Champion’ for the local marine leisure and small commercial industry companies, assisting them to improve their businesses and improving communications at all levels.

The South West  is one of the largest BM regions accounting for over 31.4% of the £3.2 billion UK turnover. We are the largest employer in the marine sector providing nearly 10,000 jobs across the region.

The Board meets four times a year and all members in the region are encouraged to attend and participate in the Board meetings. As a Company Limited by Guarantee the BM South West Board also holds an Annual General Meeting and Conference in the February of each year. In addition to the usual business of the AGM, this event is designed to be an opportunity to meet and network with your colleagues in the region, with sessions and topics chosen to promote open discussion and networking. All members are encouraged to attend the regional AGM.
