South West Region Scoops Awards

British Marine members across the South West region have recently won a flurry of awards.

We are delighted to announce that:

Bartons Solicitors won the prestigious regional transport award in the Legal 500 Awards 2018

Meanwhile AugustMTA-8192-1200x801 Race director Sarah Wallbank received a special mention at the recent Marine Trades Association award ceremony at London Boat Show 2018. This is a particular success for August Race as they are the only company to have received an MTA award two years in a row

Our educational establishments proved their worth at London Boat Show 2018 with student Ashley Scott from the University of Plymouth picking up runner-up position in the annual Superyacht UK Young Designer Competition 2018, in partnership with Pendennis Shipyard and Olesinski.

Award winning member Scanstrut continues to add to their trophy cabinet. The latest awards include SAILs Pittman Innovation Award. Scanstrut was awarded in the “Special Mention” category, for its Para Sailing System developed for leading dingy manufacturer, RS Sailing. The kit retrospectively adapts an RS Venture (a sailing dinghy designed for able-bodied sailors that is already in common use in many training and sailing centres) to be converted for most disabilities, including para sailing.

At the busy MTA Awards at London Boat Show Scanstrut were announced as winner of the David Coleman Excellence in Exporting Award. The award was received by Tom Reed, Managing Director of Scanstrut. He commented, “Last year was an exceptional year for us and this is an even more incredible start to 2018. I am proud to accept this award on behalf of the team in Devon. When people visit us, they see that we have three words on our wall. Talent, energy and endeavour. Talent and energy are easy to understand. It’s the endeavour that is key and uniting link of our team’s success.”

The British Marine South West Board are delighted with the region’s success and look forward to the next batch!
